Poems

Tireless Worker by Wayne Chen

Let this be a moment of thanks,
for all that she has done.

She is a tireless worker,
worked hard all her life.

In good times,
and in bad times.

At a close distance,
or from afar.

Sacrifice for a better life,
a better life for her children.

Loving, caring, protective.
Always wanting to do right.

Morning to night.....
Unconditional love always.

Dr. Mom to chauffeur
Fruit cutter to teacher.

No role is too great,
for her to take

Thank you mom.

I wrote this  poem several years ago as a token of appreciation to my parents.  While my mom will not be physically here to see the future of my creation, I feel as if she has given me her greatest gift of all to me.  The knowledge of a physical death -- all the feelings that go with it and a better understanding of it.  I feel if modern society really thought about death, they might seriously re-evaluate why society is where it is today. And the folly of how we try to live it today.

She has only added to my "foundation."  I hope in some way she will bear witness to my newly developing path in life and take joy from what it may result in.

The Journey into the Future

The true journey of life is boundless
No fences, no gates, no keys

New worlds to be traveled
New people to discover

New ideas to explore,
New emotions to be felt.

But.....
The future is nothing without the past

As what is seen in the present
Is forever marked by what has already been felt

A solid foundation you have helped me build
To the sky I must finish

Fear not change, nor distance
Nor age, nor place

For a foundation of concrete & stone,
Shall always remain concrete & stone.

The time has come,
to make my mark.

Live, watch, and enjoy,
The fruits of your labor.
